It’s official: Laura Osnes and Jeremy Jordan will play the title outlaws in the Broadway debut of the new musical Bonnie & Clyde. The show will begin previews at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on November 4 and open on December 1, directed and choreographed by Jeff Calhoun.
Bonnie & Clyde features music by Frank Wildhorn, lyrics by Don Black and a book by Ivan Menchell. John McDaniel will provide musical supervision, orchestrations and arrangements. In a press statement, Calhoun called the show “a love story that is both compelling and sexy, distinct from the film and yet faithful to these personalities who remain such a part of the American landscape.”
Osnes originated the role of Bonnie at the La Jolla Playhouse production in a fall 2009 production (opposite Stark Sands) and reprised the role opposite Jordan in fall 2010 at Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, Florida.
Currently featured as Hope Harcourt in the Broadway revival of Anything Goes, Osnes previously starred in two high-profile Broadway revivals, South Pacific (as Nellie Forbush) and Grease (as Sandy, a role she won on the NBC reality competition Grease: You’re the One That I Want).
Jordan has appeared on Broadway in West Side Story and Rock of Ages and in regional productions of Big River and The Little Dog Laughed.
Bonnie & Clyde be produced on Broadway by Kathleen Raitt, Barry Satchwell Smith, Jerry Frankel, Jeffrey Richards and Michael Jenkins.
